Lock(Water Navigation): Heda slussen

A lock on the Sweden’s famous Göta kanal. I was simply riding a bicycle by the canal when I witnessed this lock in action. It is partially automated – it is guarded and operated by one man but they have electric and remote controls to open and close the doors of the lock.

Year of construction: 1818-1820
Technical facts: This double lock has a drop height of 5.2 meters. The operation is hydraulic and the lock was electrified in 1970.

One cruise ship and one leisure boat crossed the Heda lock.
