Reconnaissance photography: Logistics

While aircrafts are the main workhorses of aerial reconnaissance, aplenty logistical support is required to conduct a whole mission.

Following are some pictures of a ‘dark room‘ car manufactured by Volkswagen in the 1960s.

In the rear compartment there is space for loaded camera casettes for 2 SF 37 and 2 SH 37 aircrafts, ladder, cleaning kit and necessary tools. There was also a telephone and a light lock for exchange of casettes.

The car was generally loaded for a 24 hr mission cycle. It was also used to transport the films between the aircraft and the platoon.
