Ramayan is perhaps the oldest and most popular Indian epic. It is hard to find an Indian who isn’t aware of it, and the masses have been learning it in form of tales for centuries.
IMHO, Ramayan is still considered as solely a source of spiritual knowledge and worshipping value rather than one of most detailed documentation of astounding historical events. While it’s from a historical perspective commenced centuries ago, the attempts to scientifically date it begun in the 1970s.
My opinion is that the adults and the next generations must focus more on studying Ramayan from a historical, scientific, political, and in general, logical perspective. I recently got a chance to present it from these perspectives. The presentation lasted barely 15 minutes but it is better to start somewhere to persuade people to cultivate these perspectives about the Indian epics.
