Kurla Warriors

I scribbled these lines today while comfortably standing in a local train,on my way back to home from office.
Though written keeping my experiences at Kurla station as the center point,I am sure that all the Mumbaikars who take daily hit of train rush and the peripheral drudgery can relate to it !
The lines have some flavour of the military (action) jargon.

*****************************************************************

On the narrow platform we alight,
like the waves that hit the shore;
each second,every inch we fight,
with a soldier’ D’day roar;

The Line of Sight is unclear,
the ROB(Railway Over Bridge) is overrun;
‘keep moving,the objective is near,
neglect any hit or burn’;

Oh God! It’s the shelling of rain,
no cover,just a black water field;
attempts to stay dry go in vain,
to the only dirty path we yield;

Crowded are those narrow gullies,
the Companies just scatter;
the ric. men are mere filthy bullies,
they are the Bosses of the matter;

Some act smart and take a flank,
and in an endless(bus)queue they land;
stuck in street jam, they crank,
holding the gangway in a clenching hand;

We start falling back as the sun sets,
wading through rics.,vendors and crowd;
the sprints for trains are shrewd bets,
we are resolute – on our head is our shroud;

To survive we fight a daily war,
hitting,stumbling but braving barriers;
we live to the task we are paid for
we are the Kurla Warriors;
